10 Best AC Price in Nepal 2024

Thu Dec 12 2024

Air conditioning has shifted from being a luxury to a necessity, especially in Nepal's extreme climate. Whether you're battling the sweltering heat of May or the biting cold of December, an AC is your reliable companion, always adapting to your needs.

However, I’ve heard many customers say, “But AC is too expensive.” And rightfully so as air conditioners have often been marketed as luxury items rather than essential home appliances.

Fortunately, the Nepali market now offers a wide range of options, from budget-friendly models to high-end units. If you’re thinking of investing in an air conditioner, this guide will help you find the best fit.

I’ll walk you through my top picks, covering everything from energy-efficient inverter models to more affordable choices.

Before we dive in, I’ll also provide a quick overview of the different types and sizes of ACs to help make your decision easier.

Now, let’s get started!

Range for AC Price in Nepal: My Top Picks

I get it, you might not have all the time in this world to go through this article. Here’s a TLDR for you:

BrandPrice (in NPR)
AKL Air Conditioner49,660 - 1,34,992
CG Air Conditioner68,990 - 2,22,690
Midea Air Conditioner58,000 - 1,57,500

How to Choose the Right AC?

In my 4 years of experience in the HVAC sector, my most common question has always been, “How do I choose the right AC?” This is a very valid question considering there are different types of AC based on how much they consume energy and their capacity.

Determine Air Conditioner Type

There are different kinds of AC in the market today. Some of the top ACs today are:

types of AC
  • Wall Mount: Best for Homes
  • Floor Standing: Best for Halls
  • Ceiling Cassette: Best for Offices

Once you’ve narrowed down your search to what AC you want, you can select an AC type and capacity.

Inverter vs Non-Inverter AC

Primarily, ACs are inverter and non-inverter based. Inverter ACs are more electricity efficient than non-inverters because they adjust their compressor speed to maintain consistent temperature. However, non-inverters have a cheaper upfront cost because their system is simpler.

Here’s the catch, though: while non-inverters may seem cost-efficient, they sure do increase your monthly electricity bill! To help you choose, here’s a comparison:

FeatureInverterNon-Inverter
CostHigherCheaper
Electricity ConsumptionLowerHigher
MaintenanceEasyEasy
Life SpanHigherLower
Temperature ControlFasterSlower
Impact on EnvironmentMore SustainableLess Sustainable

For starters, if you plan to run your AC on generators, I would recommend you get the inverter AC as it is more energy efficient. If you need more help figuring out what AC would be the right fit for you, book a consultation with us.

Choose AC Capacity

The cooling capacity of air conditioners is measured in tons, and different types of ACs are designed for optimal performance at specific capacities.

For instance, wall-mounted ACs are ideal for homes, where a capacity of 1 to 2 tons is usually sufficient. On the other hand, floor-standing ACs are better suited for larger spaces, so you need higher capacities to ensure effective cooling.

Here is the capacity I recommend according to room size:

  • Small Rooms (120-150 sq. ft.): 1-ton AC
  • Medium Rooms (150-250 sq. ft.): 1.5-ton AC
  • Large Rooms (250-400 sq. ft.): 2-ton AC
  • Spaces Over 400 sq. ft.:
For very large spaces, such as conference halls, auditoriums, or open-plan areas, consider floor-standing ACs or ceiling cassettes.

What Features to Look for in Air Conditioners

A good AC is so much more than determining the right kind and capacity.

Here are some of my must-haves when choosing an AC:

  1. Energy Star Rating: Higher ratings ensure lower energy consumption and are environmentally friendly.
  2. Turbo Cooling/Quick Cool Mode: Provides faster cooling in a short time.
  3. Dehumidification: Removes excess moisture from the air, ideal for humid climates.
  4. Wide Temperature Range: Ensures operation in extreme hot or cold conditions.
  5. Wi-Fi Connectivity and App Control: Enables remote control of the AC via a smartphone app.
  6. Air Purification Filters: Includes HEPA, activated carbon, or anti-bacterial filters for cleaner air.
  7. Auto-Restart: Restores settings automatically after a power outage.
  8. Sleep Mode: Optimizes temperature for comfortable sleep while saving energy.
  9. Timer Function: Allows you to schedule the AC to turn on or off automatically.
  10. Silent Operation: Ensures minimal noise, ideal for bedrooms or workspaces.
  11. Copper Coil: Offers durable and efficient cooling compared to aluminum coils.
  12. Self-Cleaning Function: Prevents dirt and mold buildup, reducing maintenance needs.
  13. Easy-to-Clean Filters: Washable filters for hassle-free maintenance.
  14. Leak Detection: Alerts you to refrigerant leaks for timely repairs.
  15. Voltage Stabilizer-Free Operation: Ensures smooth performance even in areas with voltage fluctuations.

Things to Keep in Mind Before Making Your Purchase

I’m sure my comprehensive article gave you a pretty solid idea on making your AC purchase. Committing to an AC is multi-dimensional. You have to consider many things including your budget, features, and maintenance.

I’ve already given you the list of features you need to consider so let’s talk about the other two, budget and maintenance.

Budget

Some vendors list their ACs to be very cheap however, they charge extra costs that stack quite high up. So, it is necessary for you to book a consultation with your vendor before you set your heart on an air conditioner.

At Ashirbad Trade, we believe in transparent pricing. We offer low cost installation for AKL air conditioners for NPR 3,000.

This brings you total down to your AC price + NPR 3000.

Maintenance

Similarly, AC maintenance is very important to ensure the longevity of your air conditioner. Here are some of the tips to increase your AC’s lifespan:

  • Clean air filters every 3-4 months to maintain airflow and efficiency.
  • Schedule annual professional maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
  • Set the AC temperature between 24-26°C to reduce strain on the system.
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of debris and ensure proper airflow.
  • Use a timer to avoid overworking the AC when it's not needed.

However, machines run into issues over time. For all HVAC-related issues, consult us at Ashirbad Maramat Sambhar to get your AC running as new as ever!

Conclusion

Investing in an air conditioner is a long-term commitment, and selecting the right model can enhance your comfort while reducing energy bills.

My personal recommendation for you will be our AKL AC. Not only do we offer very competitive pricing but also stay connected with you every step of the way. From installation to regular maintenance, we’ve got you covered.
